The conspiracy nuts are always with us…

JFK had multiple killers. The moon landing was faked. Israel crashed those jets into the twin towers. The Holocaust didn’t happen. On and on they go.

I don’t really understand the pathetic people who continue to push these conspiracies, except for those whose sole desire is to sell books.( “Bermuda Triangle” anybody?)

There are also the fun/prank versions. (“Bigfoot” anybody?)

But a long-since debunked conspiracy is resurfacing, that Barack Obama was not born in the United States.

His birth certificate is now in the public domain, and has been certified by the state of Hawaii, and verified by FactCheck.org. Please note: Hawaii became a state before he was born there on August 4, 1961.

A Delaware Republican Congressman recently held a town hall meeting to take questions from his constituents, the type of thing a true public servant should do. Sadly, wingnuts tend to show up at these and try to turn the whole event toward their agenda. I will synopsize what happened…

Wingnut Gal: “I am holding a copy of my birth certificate that says…” (Wingnut proceeds to read the WHOLE birth certificate). “Barack Obama has never shown his, and he is not a citizen of the United States. He is a citizen of Kenya, and why can’t we get him removed as the president and …” (10 more minutes of blah-blah-blah)

Congressman: (after a long pause) “Barack Obama is a citizen of the United States.”

Crowd: “Booooooooooooo!”

God bless this Republican Congressman, who dared try to speak the truth to the wingnuts. He never stood a chance.

John McCain says Barack Obama is an American citizen.

It doesn’t matter. You could hold a certified copy of the birth certificate in the face of one of these wack-jobs and they would refute it, saying it was a fake.

“Truth” is not their aim. They are frustrated because the concept of a “President Obama” does not fit their agenda, be it pro-choice, anti-gay, pro-gun or whatever.

Nope. It probably isn’t even any of that.

When someone says: “Obama does not have a valid birth certificate.” what I hear them REALLY saying is…

“I ain’t gonna keep my mouth shut while that N***** is still president.”

well big foot does exist…and his twin lead foot.and sister trench foot….cousins pigeon toe..and club foot..his parents right foot..( which only goose steps..)..and mama left foot.who just walks in circles….remember Bushes fuzzy math….now its Obamas fuzzy health care program….does anyone really understand or have read the whole thing…..

Well I HAVE read the entire health care bill. It covers you right up until the time you get sick or injured. At that time you have to get at the back of a line that is 13 months long, and that is just for band-aids! For heart surgery you have to wait 5 to 6 yrs, or until you die, whichever comes first. Broken legs/arms will be amputated, to reduce the risk of recurrance.

Oh, good. The refutation of any entire group of people by calling them Racists. How original.

Try addressing the real issues involved with this topic instead of using the Al Sharpton approach.

Federal Judge Surrick determined that Citizens aren’t harmed by Constitutional Ineligibility and therefore don’t have standing to bring suit.

Regardless of whether Obama’s a NATURAL Born Citizen or not, there is a huge mess in this ordeal.

We the People authorized the creation of the Government based on our consent. It is our responsibility to hold the Government to those limitations, a job we have been quite pathetic at for some time. The Judiciary told us through that case that it will not be used as a tool for the Citizen to exercise his 1st Amendment Right and Responsibility to obtain a Redress of Grievances.

Oh, anybody who wants to exercise their Constitutional Rights is a racist?

Simple fallacious logic instead of macro analysis of a critical topic.

I would accept that argument (almost) except for the fact that Obama is a legal US citizen, and I doubt you spoke up for “citizen’s responsibilities” 5 years ago. Everything else I choose not to respond to.

well lets see..Pelosi makes reference to swastikas..nazis..and unamerican…to people who dont understand the healthcare bill..dont like it ..we should act like zombies should just say yes sign up and shut up…..but keep hammering away on bush..long gone..pig pen politics..from chicago…how can one come from the same area..and not stink of the same…but claim to be cut from diff fabric..and if you dont like obama or his politcs…then you are a bigot…and your cool and hip if you agree,…obama is a con man smooth talking hustler..hip dont cut people..a socialism rules..

You need to re examine what Pelosi said. She stated that screaming at town halls so that others cannot be heard is un-American. She never said that people who come to discuss things or express their displeasure at town hall meetings were un-American.

I agree with her. Allowing debate is American. Preventing debate is un-American. So Pelosi was right, IMHO.

As for the swastikas and nazi references. People brought swastika’s and Hitler pictures to these town hall meetings. This is a fact. Mentioning that people brought this contemptible garbage to town hall meetings is is not the evil part, bringing such garbage in the first place was. Again, I agree with Pelosi.

For the record I am a Libertarian who isn’t exactly thrilled with Obama but…..

Facts are facts…. Obama was born in the U.S. and yes, he is our legally elected President.

I have some beefs with some statements on here and I will sort them out as best I can.

Yeah maybe you didn’t get this part, Matt: You hold the government responsible with your vote. Not with calls for impeachment, or by whining that the winning candidate isn’t legally allowed to hold office. This country’s voice was loud and clear on election day. Our (That being the entire country, not yours or your other far-right buddies) collective consent was to give Obama the office of the President of the United States (weather for better or worse).

By all means continue to protest. I like to see the first amendment in action! However, when your arguments get ate up and spit out because it’s intellectual garbage don’t get your panties in a twist. As my father says: “Every opinion is somewhat valid. How valid it is, is dependent upon the intellect of the holder of that opinion and how well studied he is in the area of which the opinion resides.” So far with all the misspelled signs and obvious ignorance to official government documents. Most of the “birther’s” arguments are beneath the validity for an actual response besides anything but ridicule.

This is exactly why I don’t really bitch about the conservatives being on the receiving end of the “un-American” charge. 5 Years ago when I was pepper-sprayed and arrested for using my first amendment rights to stop a war that I knew damn well had nothing to do with 9-11, I was hit with the “un-patriotic” charge from conservatives. If they would have spoken up and said I had the right to protest and I was as American as hell for doing so (something I knew already) I would of argued for them now. But since they not only stayed silent but added fuel to the fire while my first amendment rights were under attack I’ll let them feel the pain and I’ll keep quiet so they might remember what it’s like to lose your first amendment rights.

Who really listens to conspiracy theories these days?

So the far left cry baby got hit with pepper spray….but you showed up just to start some trouble.knowing or hoping that might happen..to make yourself look like a victim…that was your goal..that puts you in that same class with that piece of trash Phelps.from Kansas who shows up at the funerals of soldiers..protesting and saying vile things about them….got some news for you not all conservatives support the war…..and if you had lost your first amendment rights.you would not have been able to post a comment on this website you pinhead.
