GOP Nirvana
By Wink
A recent study says students, looking for summer jobs, are having a much harder time this year.
Many of these jobs are already filled. With adults. Adults who used to have regular, decent-paying jobs. Jobs with benefits.
But now, extremely low-paying jobs, even part-time jobs, are being snapped up by people with families.
It used to be the people who applied for these jobs were interested in getting a new bike. Now the applicants are trying to pay the rent.
Remember the GOP railing against taxing those between $250,000 and $1 million per year, telling us this income bracket was ‘not rich’ and had these people have ‘bills to pay and kids to put through college?’ Remember that?
Over $250,000 = Not rich. Fine, fine, fine. I accept that. (I would be delighted to experience that level of ‘not rich’ though.)
But if people who make more than $250,000 are just scraping by, how do we describe those making $51,000, like the teachers in Wisconsin?
Grossly overpaid, greedy bastards. That is how we describe them.
So obscenely overpaid, in fact, that their evil union must be destroyed. Never again can we allow them to negotiate for those types of outrageous salaries.
(Do those people living on $51,000 have bills to pay, or kids to put through college, like the working poor who make more than $250,000?. Probably not.)
If we bust the union, we can shrink those crazy paychecks, and reduce those benefits, just like the rest of U.S. industry is doing.
Americans with skills and education now have poor paying jobs, or 2nd jobs, driving cabs, working at Wal-Mart or McDonalds. They take away jobs from teens.
We are now approaching a sort of ‘GOP Nirvana,’ where all jobs pay minimum wage, and offer no benefits. Then corporate execs can finally maximize their own paychecks, and even increase (if that is possible) their donations to the GOP…
Ha Ha! Just kidding! In ‘GOP Nirvana’ there is no such thing as ‘minimum wage’ to drag down business (and exec bonuses)… Companies can just pay as little as they can get away with.
There is still plenty of money in America, but it is all drifting upward. The ever-inflating salaries for corporate execs are paid for by slashing pay and benefit for employees.
The GOP then rewards the wealthy with more and more tax cuts.
Is this a great country, or what? It used to be…
