McCain is Change
I think it is funny that McCain is now trying to position himself as the candidate of change. McCain won the primaries at least to some extent by being the candidate of experience. That worked then, and it is his best bet now. That is where he owns the status quo he has the advantage if he can show why experience is needed in times like these. McCain has all sorts more experience than Obama, and he should flaunt it. I realize that there are a couple years in the 1980’s that he should ignore, but other than that debacle, he has shown leadership. Now he is all of the sudden the candidate that will bring change to America? That’s like being a marathoner and switching up to run the 100m dash. It just won’t work, yes you are a runner but it’s a different type of running. You can switch from “experience” to “change” but that doesn’t mean you’re any good at it.
Obama has clearly been running as the candidate of change from the start. McCain by taking his current stance is in a way vindicating Obama. McCain is essentially agreeing with Obama and that Obama has had it right all along. Now obviously the theories of what type of ‘change’ is needed and how much, but that is for a different time.
